About the YJMC
Our Story
The YJMC was established in 1947 in Gardena California by Wino Willie Forkner, among others. Wino is well known as one of the Original Members of the Booze Fighters, established in 1946. The YJMC was founded to allow the members to participate in AMA sanctioned races. In 2003 a Charter for the Manassas Chapter of the YJMC was granted and signed by John “Johnny” Roccio, another original founding member of the YJMC, Gardena Chapter. At that time a new patch design was created which is still worn by our club. For a complete history of the YJMC see the document entitled “History of the Yellow Jacket Motorcycle Club.”
Our Colors
The colors of the YJMC and its patch is the golden yellow and black of the Yellowjacket hornet. The Yellowjacket represents the characteristics of aggressiveness, speed, agility, and tenacity – all important characteristics in racing. The triangular piece represents the hornets’ nest indicating the communal life of the Yellowjacket and reflects the brotherhood of the YJMC.
The Patch is a two-piece patch with the first piece displaying the logo of the Yellowjacket with the words “Yellow Jacket” across the top. The second piece is the bottom rocker which consist of the words “Established 1947” which is the original establishment date of the club by Wino Willy. The "M.C.", indicating Motorcycle Club, is shown under the Hornet. The accompanying figure illustrates the patch colors and design.
Our Mission
The YJMC is a historic motorcycle club dedicated to supporting motorcycle racing and touring. The mission of the Yellow Jacket Motorcycle Club is to:
- Provide a place for likeminded riders to band together in Brotherhood
- Promote and live the motorcycle lifestyle
- Promote, participate in, and support motorcycle racing
- Support charities as determined by the membership
AMA Chartered
As a Club dedicated to racing, the YJMC is currently chartered by the AMA as a social Motorcycle Club.
